Do Metalbirds Scare Off Real Birds?Updated 9 hours ago

Short answer: Nope. Not even slightly.

We get asked this a lot—do our corten steel birds send the real ones packing? Will your backyard fall silent, like a bad party with a weird host?

The answer is a resounding no.

Real birds are a lot smarter (and more chill) than we give them credit for. They don’t mistake our metal silhouettes for threats. In fact, many customers have told us that their real feathered mates land right next to their Metalbirds—sometimes even on them. We’ve seen fantails flitting by, robins giving the side-eye, and the occasional woodpecker trying to chat up his steel cousin.

Why don’t birds get scared?

  • No motion, no threat – Our birds stay put. No flapping, no swooping, no drama.

  • No reflective surface – They don’t have shiny parts that confuse or alarm birds.

  • No predatory shapes – We’re not making eagles with talons out. Just peaceful silhouettes of native favourites.

  • Material matters – Weathering steel develops a natural patina, not a glare. So it blends, not blinds.

In fact, here’s what often happens:

You place a Metalbird in your garden, and within days it becomes part of the local ecosystem. Your neighbours might ask about it. A sparrow might sit beside it. You might find yourself smiling every time you pass by.

No squawking. No fleeing. Just nature doing its thing—with a bit more art in the frame.
